First and foremost, if you want to work in Japan, you must passed the N2 level of JLPT Licensure Examination. Below than this, I can tell that it will be very hard for you to get the job you want since communication here in Japan is very important and their medium of communication is mostly in Japanese language. And most Japanese company prefer those applicants that passed at least N2 level. But there is no wrong in trying, so even you just only passed N3, try to apply to the work you wanted and wait for the answer of the company whom you sent your resume. Maybe with a little luck you have, you will get some positive reply from them.
Now, if its your first time in job hunting some Japanese company, how you can find the information of the company whom you wanted to work, the company that fits your field, your experience is the very first problem that you will encounter. To do this, below are some of my tips:
1. Use YAHOO JAPAN search engine when searching a job information in the net.
As we already knew that google is a giant name when it comes to search engine in the net, it is preferable that it is much better to use YAHOO JAPAN (http://www.yahoo.co.jp) when you want to search for a job information or any information here in Japan. The main reason for this is because, Japanese prefer to use YAHOO rather than GOOGLE even now, and more homepage was registered in YAHOO including company homepages.
2. Use Japanese characters and not English alphabets when searching the net.
If you can write & read Japanese characters, this tip will be easy for you. If you want to get more hits to the job information you are searching for, it is preferable that you better use JAPANESE CHARACTERS (mostly in KANJI). The reason is because, as Japanese homepage was registered in some search engine like YAHOO, the information or the keywords of that homepage was mostly written in Japanese language also, so it will not be trace or searched when you are using English alphabets. You can trigger it if you will only use Japanese characters.
3. For better job information search, use the keywords listed below.
The list below are the common keywords use in Japanese homepage related to jobs and company. I listed it here so that you will have now a clue what are the keywords that you will use to get the information you want in the net. Try to use it now to view some information you are searching for.
就職、就職活動
The Japanese term commonly use as a keyword by the company when they are registering their information about a job for newly graduates. So this is a hit keyword to use when you are about to graduate and now looking for a job.
採用、採用情報
The Japanese term commonly use as a keyword by the company when they are posting an available jobs in the homepage of their company. When you are surfing some Japanese company homepage, you will notice that there is a "採用情報" section there. So if you will use this term, there is a high possibility that you can trigger it and view it on the results of your search.
転職、転職情報
The Japanese term commonly use as a keyword by the company when they are posting an available jobs for experienced workers. Or if they are targeting job applicants who have an enough experienced in a certain field and wanted to transfer a company.
仕事、仕事情報
A common Japanese term equivalent to "WORK" in English that is also commonly use when registering a job information in the net.
JOBフェア
A common Japanese term use when a Japanese company register some job fair information in the net. Try to use this if you are searching for a job fair, job seminar, and job consultation schedules and events in the net.
If you want to have a better result on the job search you are doing, try to combine any of the keyword above with your field of expertise. For example, if you are looking for a job related to IT field, try to use "就職 IT" or "就職情報 IT". If you are in electrical or electronics field, try to use "就職情報 電気系 電子系" or "採用情報 電気系 電子系". Just check for the equivalent word of your field of expertise in Japanese word in any of your dictionary or any online dictionary you can find in the web.
